MP for Mysuru Yaduveer Krishnadatta Chamaraja Wadiyar visited the Chamundi Hills on Thursday and apprised himself of the arrangements made for devotees who will visit the Chamundeshwari temple on the second Friday of the Ashada month.
The visit followed public complaints that there was a lack of arrangements on the hilltop the last Friday.
鈥淲e had received complaints that devotees had faced several inconveniences on the first Ashada Friday. Hence, I visited the hill to inspect the arrangements. Directions have been issued to officials to ensure a hassle-free darshan for devotees,鈥 he said.
About the fees charged for paid darshan, Mr. Yaduveer said the issue was discussed with officials and deliberations have taken place to reduce the fee, and a decision would be taken in the coming days.
鈥淎ll shops on the hills should only organic and chemical-free turmeric and vermillion,鈥 he said.
Mr. Yaduveer said that mobile phones should be banned inside the temple and photographs should be prohibited. 鈥淎 decision should be taken in this regard,鈥 he added.
Mr. Yaduveer extended his support to dress code for the Chamundeshwari temple.
鈥淎 dress code should be enforced, and I have been supportive of it. We should educate the next generation about our culture, traditions, and customs. People should visit religious places in a manner that respects the sanctity of the space,鈥 he added.
Tiger deaths condemned
Reacting to the recent poisoning of five tigers in the M.M. Hills and the alleged mass killing of monkeys near Bandipur, Mr. Yaduveer said it was condemnable. The Forest Department should take strict actions in this regard, he added.
He said that elected representatives of Chamarajanagar should have raised their voice against such killings, but they had not done that.
