A thief who stole stock from much-loved chocolatier Slattery has appeared in court. Susan Green, 48, of Lepp Crescent in Bury , was arrested by officers from the Bury Neighbourhood team and following interview was charged with five theft offences. The popular patisserie and tea room, on Bury New Road, issued a warning to fellow business owners earlier tis month after alleging a shoplifter had taken stock. Bosses described the incidents as ‘soul destroying’. Join our Court and Crime WhatsApp group HERE “Please stay alert and protect your stock – it’s a hard hit none of us can afford,” the owners wrote in a statement. “As a small, independent business, we鈥檝e had no choice but to invest heavily in security, as we cannot afford to keep losing our stock in this way. “We are not a large corporation who buys everything in bulk for cheap, we hand make all our products, and a lot of time, love and care goes into making them. “It is soul destroying for the staff who have spend hours making every component for the products, not to mention the cost of ingredients that has sky rocketed over the last few years.” Greater Manchester Police said Susan Green, from Bury, appeared at Manchester Magistrates’ Court on Monday (June 23), charged with two counts of theft from Slattery and three other offences. She pleaded guilty and was bailed from court to reappear on for sentencing on July 2.
