Woman says DNA test will shame doubtful daddy

Camille* is a mother of five. For the past three years, she has been living with the father of her two-year-old daughter. But now, a new baby and a tangled love affair have sparked serious drama about who is the father of her newborn.

The 27-year-old insists that her two-month-old son belongs to Tyrese*, her on-again, off-again flame, even though she still shares a roof with another man — the father of her toddler.

Tyrese is struggling to believe her, even though he is legally the baby’s father, having signed the birth certificate.

“Mi nah tell nuh lie, when mi sign di birth paper, mi never did really a think. A when mi sidung and start meds it now mi realise seh mi too hasty,” Tyrese admitted.

Camille is the mother of five children, ages 13, 8, 3, 2 years old, and the two-month-old baby. She shares her first two children with one man, while each of the younger three has a different father.

She said that, by the time she met Tyrese, her relationship with the father of her two-year-old was already on the rocks. She insisted that, once Tyrese came into the picture, she stopped sleeping with her previous partner.

But Tyrese, 31, said that the fact that Camille lives with her babyfather has strengthened his doubt about the child’s paternity.

“When mi an har start talk, she did tell mi seh she live wid di man yes, but she never deh wid him. She just deh there because a har daughter. That’s why, when she have the baby, mi tell har come live wid mi, but instead she guh back to di man, which mek mi feel even more seh him a nuh mine,” Tyrese told THE WEEKEND STAR.

But Camille is standing firm in her belief that Tyrese is the father and says she is confident the DNA test will prove it. She has told the DNA Detective to help provide her with the answers that will cause Tyrese to stop doubting her. As part of a partnership with this newspaper, DNA testing company, Polygenics Consulting, is providing free paternity tests to families. Tyrese and Camille’s two-month-old baby boy will be tested to determine whether he is the daddy.

DNA testing for paternity works by comparing specific markers in the child’s DNA with those of the alleged father. Even as she waits for the science to prove her right, Camille is adamant that her body would have provided her with signs during the pregnancy if Tyrese was not the father.

“Mi know how mi body stay. When mi did pregnant, a him [Tyrese] alone could a touch mi. Mi couldn’t stand mi daughter’s father. Suh, from him in a belly, mi son know him fadda,” she said firmly.

She also explained that, while she lives with her other child’s father, they haven’t been intimate since mid-May last year, weeks before she conceived.

“Mi a nuh no whore and mi nuh sleep around. When mi and him start deal in a June, mi and mi daughter’s father did done have problems, and the relationship did mash up. Suh a him alone mi did a sleep wid. Mi sure, sure a him. Suh mi glad fi di test because it a guh shut him up,” she added confidently.

“Him a guh shame when it come back.”

“Mi done tell him already, a fi him pickney. Mi nah ask, mi a tell him. Suh this DNA test a guh put him to shame”

Despite her certainty, Tyrese is still uneasy.

“She a talk big and bold, but mi spirit nuh tek it. From mi see how everything play out, mi just caah feel comfortable. … Mi need fi know,” Tyrese said.
