Sonay Kartal’s match versus Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova was interrupted when technology failed to signal an out ball in the first set. Kartal hit the ball past the baseline, yet no out call was made, prompting a pause in play while the umpire sought to rectify the issue, leading to the point being replayed. Pavlyuchenkova felt aggrieved, stating after losing the subsequent game on Centre Court: “they’ve stole a game from me. they’ve stole it”. Emma Raducanu, a British tennis sensation, had previously voiced her disapproval of the technology, remarking in her post-match press conference: “Yeah, I mean, that call [against Sabalenka] was, like, for sure out,” noting the unsatisfactory nature of officiating at the tournament: “It’s kind of disappointing, the tournament here, that the calls can be so wrong.” While acknowledging occasional accuracy, Raducanu highlighted ongoing issues, adding: “For the most part they’ve been okay. It’s just, like, I’ve had a few in my other matches, too, that have been very wrong. So yeah, I don’t know. Hopefully they can kind of fix that.”, reports the Mirror .
