Why This Bengaluru Resident Thinks City Is Dying—And It's Not Just Because of Traffic

A Bengaluru resident’s emotional social media post expressing frustration with the city’s unreliable transport system has gone viral, drawing widespread attention online. The commuter’s complaint has sparked fresh discussions on the poor state of public mobility, lack of government action and the growing dependence on app-based cab services like Ola and Uber. The post resonated with many others facing similar issues, especially during office hours or in areas with limited connectivity. People shared their own stories, pointing out how daily travel has become a struggle due to long waiting times, unavailability of cabs, and surge pricing. ‘’As a born & bought up Bengaluru huduga , I have watched the city transform from being a paradise to decaying ruins.People care very less about traffic rules.Roads are pathetic and traffic is insane.Nobody seems to have a solution in mind about these problems. Our thriving netas want to build tunnels and raise taxes for these projects. All this while previous unfinished projects languish in the city. What do we do?’’ the post read. This criticism comes at a time when tensions between app-based ride platforms and driver unions remain unresolved. Over the past few months, driver groups have pushed for tighter rules on aggregators such as Uber and Ola. They have also opposed the running of bike taxis in the city, claiming it affects their earnings and leads to unregulated competition. How Netizen Reacted: ‘’ The money. That’s all they want. They’ll sell us out for it and that’s what they’ve done. Our land and resources are up for sale. Our culture, language, roots, do not matter to them. Only way out is to find a good political representative, and hope that they wont follow the threaded path of their predecessors. Also, to make sure that we don’t budge to bullying. We shouldn’t sell our land and other resources without thinking,’’ a user said. ‘’ But they are giving Kannada pride, no? Every Time some says a rational thing it becomes a matter of Kannada pride, rather than better quality of life,’’ a second user wrote. ‘’ Dying OR already dead? Except for a few places around Jayanagar, Cubbon Park and Lalbagh I don’t even think this is Bangalore anymore,’’ a third user mentioned.
