When is Love Island's Casa Amor twist happening as fan wait nearly over

Love Island viewers were promised that the latest season would be full of twists, turns and dramatic surprises.

So far, the ITV reality dating series has certainly delivered. There have been surprise dumpings, plenty of bombshells as well as the introduction of The Sleepover and changes to the classic Movie Night.

This year’s lineup of Islanders have been quick to form love triangles to keep long time fans entertained. However, viewers still haven’t been treated to one of the most memorable events in each series – the introduction of Casa Amor.

Here is when fans should expect Casa Amor based on previous season and a reminder of what takes place.

What is Casa Amor?

Casa Amor is the ultimate test for Islanders hoping to prove that their current relationship is strong enough to win the show. Couples are temporarily separated, with one group moving to a different location and meeting new singles.

Meanwhile, the other group remains in the main villa but are also usually introduced to new single contestants. After a week, the Islanders must decide whether to stick with their original partner or recouple with someone new who may have turned their head.

If both original Islanders decide to stick, they will be reunited and remain in a couple. If both decide to recouple, then those two new couples will remain on the island.

If one decides to stick while the other chooses to recouple, the new couple remain in the villa and the original Islander who decided to stick remains in the villa but is single.

Any new Islanders introduced for Casa Amor but not selected by the end of the recoupling ceremony are dumped from the villa.

When does Love Island’s Casa Amor twist take place?

ITV have not issued a confirmed date for when Casa Amor is set to take place or when it will be aired on our screens. However, according to Cosmopolitan, it usually happens during the fifth week of each series.

That lines up with when it occurred during the last four series of the show. Here are the dates it began during the previous three instalments:

Series 11 – June 30 Series 10 – June 30 Series 9 – July 1

In series 8, it wasn’t introduced until July 26, but that year was delayed by some time due to the Covid pandemic.

Therefore, judging by the dates above, viewers can probably expect Casa Amor this place, on or around July 7. This is because this current series actually started a week later than usually but there is not much longer to wait.

Love Island continues tonight at 9pm on ITV2 and ITVX.
