Supergrass will open the Pyramid Stage at this year’s Glastonbury Festival. The Britpop band will be the first act to take to the main stage at the Somerset Festival on Friday, ahead of performances from CMAT, Alanis Morissette and Biffy Clyro among others. Cheshire band the 1975 will then take to the stage as the first night’s headliners, rounding off Glastonbury’s first full day of live music. Supergrass are seasoned Glastonbury performers, having appeared at the festival five times already. Their most recent appearance was in 2022, when they played the Other Stage on Friday afternoon. After rising to fame in the 1990s, Supergrass split in 2010 before announcing a reunion in 2019. This year, the band, from Oxford, have embarked on a 30th anniversary tour for their debut album I Should Coco, which includes the hits Alright and Caught By The Fuzz. Frontman Gaz Coombes, who was just 19 when the album was released in 1995, said the record ‘means a lot’ to the band and is ‘part of their DNA’. Ahead of the tour, which sees the band play the album in full for the first time, he told NME: “It鈥檚 mad that 30 years later, we鈥檙e still able to pull off that energetic, youthful chemistry on stage and read each other in that way. Although it鈥檚 a 30-year-old record, we all feel really connected to it. “It鈥檚 going to be exciting to get on stage and do that album as a whole for the first time ever. There are a couple of tracks that we鈥檝e never performed live before, so that鈥檚 really cool.” Their Glastonbury appearance comes in the middle of the tour, and while the band might not be able to fit every track from the much-loved album into their Glastonbury set, fans can still expect a heavy dose of nostalgia when they take to the stage on Friday. Here’s what you need to know about Supergrass’ set, including the start time, the songs to expect and more. Supergrass will open the Pyramid Stage on the first day of the festival.
