A couple were astonished when they unlocked a storage unit they had bought for around $2,000 (拢1,456 approx) to discover a treasure trove of vintage goods. Wade Coggins took to TikTok to showcase their new possessions, after finding the unit’s interior full to the brim with cardboard boxes. The frugal American said: “We spent over $2,000 on this 10x20x10 [feet container] and we hit the jackpot. It might not look special, but wait until you see what’s inside.” The video showed a myriad of boxes which, according to Wade, he knew very little about. Venturing further into the unit, Wade unboxed a folder brimming with Poke虂mon cards from 1999. “All these are from 1999,” he celebrated. “There’s not one newer than that.” He then explored another box, uncovering even more cards from the same era. Wade’s next discovery was a brand new boxed Nintendo Wii U, leading to his announcement: “There’s a lot of game machines in here, but I’ve only been through around 2% of the unit so far.” He subsequently found an old plastic Nintendo case housing several NES cartridges from the 1980s. He added: “They’re in really good shape”, citing games including Godzilla and Zelda II The Adventure of Link as significant finds. As Wade continued searching, more Nintendo products turned up, along with Apple computers. He opened yet another box replete with consoles, including Nintendo 64s and Wiis. “There’s a lot of electronics here, including monitors,” he observed. “They definitely loved video games.” Wade was over the moon as he chanced upon classic Sega Dreamcast and Sony PlayStation 3 items during his rummage. And he couldn’t hide his excitement, brandishing a hefty Star Wars AT-AT Walker toy and a mint-condition Lego set. The discoveries didn’t end there; he unearthed a Nintendo DS console, an assortment of laptops, and dozens of old PC games featuring iconic titles like Sonic the Hedgehog and The Sims. “I think there’s some money here,” Wade remarked, hardly believing his luck. But his exploration was far from over – a Star Wars-themed Xbox One console was among the haul in another box. Wade closed: “I’ll show you one more box,” acknowledging that his time was limited and he had barely scratched the surface of what was there, estimating he’d gone through just 5% of the collection. This last selection unveiled further gems 鈥 an array of Poke虂mon cards, video games, and other board games including Jenga. Despite Wade鈥檚 find being a trove of treasures, the TikTok community reacted with varied opinions. One person advised: “Please, please get a retro professional to help you with this stuff, some of its incredibly valuable especially if you don’t open the boxes.” Another added: “What you showed is at least 拢20k.” Whilst a third commenter was astounded, declaring: “That collection is insane. Either they were a major collector, or they had an indie game store because that is so much stuff!” Others expressed sympathy for the previous owner, however, one of whom penned: “My stomach is turning… how long was this abandoned? You should try to at least contact the prior owner. This feels wrong in so many ways.” A second TikTok user shared similar sentiments, with one saying: “Used to enjoy watching this kind of content until it sank in there’s probably a really sad story behind why these are being sold off, no issue with the buyers but I can’t watch them any more.” A third person also agreed, stating: “This is so sad to me. That is all someone’s prized processions. All their treasures and hard work sold for nothing for someone else to profit. No hate for buying it. I just feel for the original owner.”
