Thirty-year-old Swapnil Nagesh Mali, arrested for secretly filming one of his colleagues in the washroom of the Infosys office in Bengaluru, has reportedly admitted to his act and said he derived pleasure from watching such videos.
According to The Times Of India, the accused, during police interrogation, said he 鈥済ets satisfaction鈥 watching these videos. Moreover, nearly 50 other such downloaded videos were found on his mobile phone.
Swapnil Nagesh Mali is a Senior Associate Consultant from Sangli, Maharashtra, and was caught red-handed by a female employee, who was being filmed by him.
As the investigations progress, the police found the video of another female employee on Mali鈥檚 phone.
According to police, the incident occurred on Monday morning when the woman noticed a suspicious reflection and movement from an adjacent cubicle while using the washroom.
Moments later, she alleged that Mali was standing on a commode in the next cubicle, filming her with his mobile phone, in her complaint.
Shocked, she rushed out screaming and alerted her colleagues. The accused, who tried to flee, was caught by HR staff.
The accused repeatedly apologised and deleted the videos, but the HR at the company took a screenshot as evidence before deletion.
The woman later approached the Electronic City police, following which a case was registered under relevant sections of the Information Technology Act and Section 77 (Voyeurism) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.
鈥淏ased on the complaint, we have arrested the man. Further investigation is underway,鈥 a senior police officer said.
In a statement, Infosys said that every complaint related to any violation of the company鈥檚 Code of Conduct is taken seriously, and action has been taken against the accused employee.
