Wallace’s Lightning aim for third straight title

Trinidadian star Samantha Wallace-Joseph will be chasing her first Netball Super League (NSL) title in England as she leads two-time defending champions Loughborough Lightning in the 2025 championship playoffs today.

After securing the top four spots, Manchester Thunder, London Mavericks, London Pulse, and Loughborough Lightning are all set on the road to the Grand Final and the crowning of the 2025 NSL champions.

The playoffs begin tomorrow with the Minor and Major Semi-Finals. The Major Semi-Finals feature the top two teams from the end of the regular season.

Direct qualification to the Grand Final is at stake as London Pulse host Loughborough Lightning in the Major Semi-Final. The Pulse topped the regular season table, finishing five points clear of the Lightning. However, each side won one of their two regular season fixtures. The Pulse secured a commanding 77-51 victory in the first encounter, but the reverse fixture swung the other way, with the defending champions delivering the only defeat the Pulse suffered at the Copper Box this season — a 58-53 win.

The winners of the Major Semi-Final will progress straight to the O2 Arena for the Grand Final, while the losing team will face the winners of the Minor Semi-Final in a last chance to secure a spot in the final.

The Minor Semi-Final pits Manchester Thunder against London Mavericks, the teams finishing third and fourth respectively in the regular season. This match will be held at Belle Vue Arena in Manchester.
