Vishnu Manchu鈥檚 Kannappa Mints Rs 30 Crore At Box Office After 7 Days

The Vishnu Manchu-starrer mythological drama, Kannappa, was released on June 27. Despite featuring several cameos from some of the biggest stars, the film is struggling to mint good numbers at the box office. The film had a decent first-day collection of Rs 9.35 crore Nett in India across all languages, but then it saw a decrease in numbers with each passing day.
The star-studded film opened with Rs 9.35 crore on the first day, followed by Rs 7.15 crore on day 2 and Rs 6.9 crore on its third day. The first Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday saw a significant dip, with Rs 2.3 crore, Rs 1.8 crore and Rs 1.35 crore, respectively.
Now, on its first Thursday, Kannappa minted just Rs 1.25 crore Nett in India, as per the early estimates by sacnilk.com. Adding the day 7 numbers, the film鈥檚 total 7-day box office collection now stands at Rs 30.10 crore.
Helmed by Mukesh Kumar Singh, the film offers an emotionally rich movie experience based on the legend of Kannappa in Hinduism. The Telugu-language film centres around Thinnadu, a tribal hunter, whose devotion transforms him into the greatest devotee of Lord Shiva, Kannappa. The mythological saga will depict his transformation from an atheist to one of Lord Shiva鈥檚 greatest devotees.
Headlined by Vishnu, the film portrays him in the role of Thinnadu, a valiant warrior. Akshay Kumar is seen as Lord Shiva, Kajal Aggarwal gives a beautiful performance as Goddess Parvati, Mohanlal is seen as Kirata, and Prabhas as Rudra. It also features an ensemble cast including Mohan Babu, Madhoo, R. Sarathkumar and Preity Mukhundhan.
Bankrolled by AVA Entertainment and Twenty-Four Frames Factory, Kannappa was released in five languages鈥擳elugu, Kannada, Tamil, Malayalam and Hindi. It is worth noting that the Telugu version has done the best at the box office till now.
Kannappa has faced stiff competition at the box office from Aamir Khan and Genelia D鈥橲ouza鈥檚 Sitaare Zameen Par and Kajol鈥檚 Maa. While RS Prasanna鈥檚 emotional drama Sitaare Zameen Par continues its dream run at the box office and has earned Rs 135.65 crore, Maa is falling behind and has just collected Rs 26.65 crore in seven days.
