Vishnu Manchu ‘Grateful’ As Prabhas, Mohanlal Didn’t Charge For Cameo In Kannappa

Vishnu Manchu’s much-anticipated mythical epic Kannappa, helmed by Mukesh Kumar Singh, is slated to release in theatres this weekend. The film features a remarkable ensemble cast, including significant cameos from Prabhas and Mohanlal. In his latest interview, Vichnu Manchu shared that these actors did not charge any fee for their cameos in the film. But Vishnu feels that their hard work ought to be rewarded once the film releases.
In conversation with Zoom, Vishnu Manchu said, “Prabhas and Mohanlal didn’t charge me. But for their hard work, I will have to give them once the movie releases and after the success of the movie. I owe them. It’s not the question of them taking money or not. But, it’s the question of them that, at this stage in their career, they don’t need to do these extended cameos. And, I’m grateful to them for having come and doing it.”
The actor further stated that when he had approached Prabhas and Mohanlal, they enthusiastically agreed to take on the roles. He noted that he was quite grateful to them and was confident that the audience would enjoy their performance on screen.
Apart from Mohanlal and Prabhas, Akshay Kumar has a cameo in the film. Vishnu Machu plays Thinnadu, a valiant warrior who transforms into Bhaktha Kannappa, Lord Shiva’s faithful servant. Akshay Kumar plays Lord Shiva, Prabhas offers passion as Rudra, while Mohanlal delivers a stunning performance as Kirata.
Earlier, in an interview for IMDb’s Behind The Scenes, Vishnu Manchu spoke about the story. He said, “Kannappa is a true story which has happened in India. It’s a story about an atheist who becomes Lord Shiva’s greatest devotee. This is a journey of self-realisation, and I kind of resonated with the script when I heard it. Here I am, after 10 years of working on the script, bringing it to the world to see.”
The film has other impressive cast members as well, including Kajal Aggarwal, Preity Mukundhan, Brahmanandam and Sarath Kumar. The project is produced by Twenty Four Frames Factory and AVA Entertainment. Vishnu Manchu has written the script for the film. Kannappa will get a pan-India release on June 27.
