Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who is on a two-day visit to Trinidad & Tobago, was warmly received with a vibrant cultural welcome featuring a traditional Bhojpuri Chautaal performance. During the event, Prime Minister Modi also met members of the Indian community and praised their contributions to the country鈥檚 development during his first official visit to the Caribbean nation.

PM Modi鈥檚 visit to Trinidad and Tobago holds significance as it is his first visit to the Caribbean nation and the first bilateral visit by an Indian Prime Minister to the country since 1999.
The Prime Minister arrived at the twin-island nation, located in the southeastern part of the West Indies, on Friday morning at the invitation of Trinidad and Tobago鈥檚 PM Kamla Persad-Bissessar.
After landing at Piarco International Airport, PM Modi was greeted by PM Persad-Bissessar, accompanied by 38 ministers and four Members of Parliament of the Caribbean nation. He was also accorded a ceremonial Guard of Honour.
After arriving at the twin-island, PM Modi highlighted that his visit will boost India-Trinidad & Tobago ties and tweeted,鈥 Landed in Port of Spain, Trinidad & Tobago. I thank Prime Minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar, distinguished members of the Cabinet and MPs for the gesture of welcoming me at the airport. This visit will further cement bilateral ties between our nations. Looking forward to addressing a community programme in a few hours from now.(sic)鈥
PM Modi also praised the Indian diaspora living at the twin-island for their role in its development journey.

Over the years, they distinguished themselves in several fields and are enriching Trinidad & Tobago鈥檚 development journey. The BJP leader also met three winners of Bharat Ko Janiye (Know India) Quiz in Trinidad & Tobago during his historic visit.
