Vernon Kay has shared what he believes Oasis fans need to know if they’re seeing the duo in concert this summer. The 51-year-old was amongst the 62,000 fans who welcomed Noel and Liam Gallagher back to the stage, at Cardiff’s Principality Stadium on Friday. Catching up with his BBC Radio 2 colleague Zoe Ball after the gig, Vernon reassured fans that all was good with Liam’s voice, following recent concerns. Last month, the singer was inundated with messages after he told his followers he was taking throat lozenges, sour sweets, and cough mixture. Setting the record straight about Liam’s vocals at the gig, Vernon said they were just as good as they were during the band’s heyday. “To be honest with you, three or four songs in, and I’m going to say this, nobody is going to be disappointed,” he shared. “Nobody is going to be upset because, ‘Oh, Liam’s not sounding great’, Liam Gallagher last night sounded absolutely brilliant. “Superb! He was excellent, it was like the Liam of 96, he was so good. He didn’t shout, he sang the lyrics and his voice was magnificent.” Concluding his rave review, Vernon added: “It was the Liam Gallagher that we know, we love, we admire, and we’d like a night out with. “I believe that Liam has been looking after his voice because he wants everyone to have a really good time, and with all the hoo-ha about the tickets, it was worth every single penny and yes I did pay for my ticket.” Vernon also shared his experience of the concert on Instagram, where he enjoyed the evening with his family. In one of his updates, he admitted that “tears were shed” during the show. He further described the reunion as “one of the best gigs” he’s ever attended, and reiterated his praise for Liam’s vocal performance. Additionally, he praised Noel for his exceptional guitar skills and noted that the brothers were “note perfect” throughout the performance. Meanwhile, Liam took a moment during the concert to show appreciation for the fans’ enduring support, following their famous fallout. “Thank you, beautiful people. This is it. Nice one for putting up with us over the years. We are hard work, we get it,” he shared. Briefly commenting on the controversy surrounding tickets prices for their gig, he also joked: “Are you having a good time? Is it worth the 拢40,000 you paid for a ticket?”. Oasis are expected to rake in a staggering 拢400 million from their comeback, which includes earnings from ticket sales, merchandise, endorsements, and other revenue streams. The Gallagher siblings will take the stage again in Cardiff tonight, before embarking on a five-night stint in Manchester the following week.
