US Navy鈥檚 Latest Nuclear-Powered Submarines Face Delays, First Hull Now Expected By 2040

The US Navy鈥檚 SSN(X) next-generation attack submarine faces further delays, with procurement now expected in the early 2040s, according to a Congressional Research Service report. Designed to surpass the well-known Virginia, Seawolf, and Columbia classes in stealth and combat capability, SSN(X) remains stalled by fiscal constraints and industrial capacity concerns.
