An ‘urgent’ medical incident caused an easyJet flight to suddenly divert and return back to Manchester on Monday (June 30). The easyJet service to Izmir in Turkey took off from Manchester Airport shortly before 5pm, and flew eastwards over Sheffield and Norfolk before suddenly diverting back to the airport. The flight turned over the North Sea before touching down back in Manchester again at around 5.50pm, around an hour after take off. In an updated statement, the airline confirmed the plane had to divert due to an ‘urgent’ medical issue involving a passenger on board. The plane was met by emergency crews after landing on Monday. All passengers were put on a different flight the following morning. The aircraft landed routinely in line with procedures and was met by medical services on arrival. 鈥淭he flight then continued to Izmir this morning.
