UPDATED: Business magnate Dantata dies at 94

Prominent businessman and philanthropist, Aminu Dantata, has passed away, at 94.

Family sources confirmed his demise, saying he died at the early hours of Saturday after a prolonged illness related to old age.

He may be buried later today (Saturday), according to Islamic rites.

Dantata, a towering figure in Nigeria鈥檚 business landscape, was widely respected for his contributions to commerce and community development.

He was instrumental in founding numerous enterprises that shaped the economic landscape of Kano and the entire northern Nigeria.

Aminu Alhassan Dantata was born

on May 19, 1931. The business mogul was versed in investment, particularly, in the finance, real estate and petroleum sectors.

A renowned philanthropist, Dantata spent fortunes in education emancipation, skills acquisition and economic empowerment of the youths.

It is said his disposition to ensuring peace and harmony among business men and politicians in Kano, and Nigeria at large, remained unequaled.
