UK households have been warned over drinking fruit juice, smoothies and soft drinks which are filled with sugar as the UK heatwave returns . A third heatwave of summer is likely from Wednesday July 9, according to reports. But ahead of the hot weather, the UK Health and Security Agency has some guidance. The UKHSA said: “Drink fluids regularly throughout the day especially if you are physically active. You should drink enough that your pee is a pale straw colour. “Water and diluted squash or lower fat milks are good choices. Fruit juice, smoothies and soft drinks can be high in sugar which dehydrates the body. Limit the amount of fruit juice or smoothies that you drink, and swap sugary soft drinks for diet, sugar-free or no added sugar varieties. Take extra water for journeys on public transport or by car. Alcohol has a dehydrating effect on the body, so it is a good idea to choose alcohol-free options, or alternate alcoholic drinks with a glass of water. “If you are fasting during a heatwave, it is important to drink enough to adequately hydrate before you fast and follow the guidance on keeping cool and preventing dehydration. People with underlying health conditions should seek medical advice before fasting.” Temperatures could climb into the low 30s, although the heatwave isn鈥檛 expected to see temperatures quite as high as the one experienced at the end of June/early July, according to the Met Office. Today though, heavy rain will clear to the southeast, leaving a few showers but a mainly sunny day for most. Temperatures will be near the July average but feeling cool in the breeze, the forecaster adds. The meteorologists say Tuesday will be a generally fine and dry day for many, with plenty of sunny spells. Skies will be cloudier towards the northwest of Scotland and Northern Ireland, with a little light rain possible.
