Udupi: The Janata Dal (Secular) district unit of Udupi held a protest outside the Rajatadri District Collectorate in Manipal, voicing strong opposition to what they termed as widespread corruption and inefficiency under the Congress-led Karnataka state government.
Addressing the gathering, JDS Udupi district president Yogish V. Shetty alleged that the ruling Congress has failed to provide effective governance over the past two years. He accused the administration of being riddled with bribery and favoritism across various government departments, resulting in poor public service delivery.
鈥淭here is rampant corruption, especially in the housing department 鈥 a fact that even Congress legislators are now exposing,鈥 Shetty said. He further criticized the state for neglecting essential infrastructure like roads, drainage, bridges, lake development, and drinking water systems. 鈥淣o real development has taken place; instead, appeasement politics has taken center stage,鈥 he added.
The protestors accused the state government of betraying public trust by ignoring the needs of the people. They demanded the immediate removal of Minister Zameer Ahmed, calling him a symbol of corruption within the cabinet.
Prominent leaders present at the demonstration included JDS Working President Vasudeva Rao, State Secretaries Sudhakar Shetty and Gangadhar Birti, District General Secretary Jayaram Acharya, former district president Dakshat Shetty, Udaya Hegde, Chandrahas Ermal, block presidents Sandesh Bhat, Srikanth Hebri, Devaraj Thottam, and Yuva Janata Dal President Sanjay Kumar.
The party vowed to intensify protests if the government fails to address the issues raised.
