Two teenagers killed on railway line

An investigation has been taking place after two teenagers were killed on the railway near Stockport, the Manchester Evening News understands.

It’s understood emergency services attended the tragic incident in Poynton at around 10.25pm on Thursday night (July 3).

Railway lines were closed off late on Thursday night while emergency services worked at the scene.

Work continued throughout the early hours of Friday morning, with rail services resuming by 6.15am.

The circumstances surrounding the two deaths are yet to be confirmed.

It’s understood British Transport Police is leading the investigation.

The force has been contacted for further information.
