City of Tshwane MMC for Corporate and Shared Services Kholofelo Morodi says she is committed to eliminating corruption within the municipality鈥檚 ranks, while bolstering internal controls to prevent further sabotage of the city鈥檚 power infrastructure.
This comes after three municipal officials were arrested yesterday for allegedly stealing a R7 million transformer from the Laudium electricity substation in Pretoria.

The suspects are scheduled to appear in the Pretoria Magistrate鈥檚 Court today on charges relating to the theft of essential infrastructure.
Morodi explains, 鈥淭here鈥檚 been an investment of more than half a billion into our asset protection. We are looking at technology. We are also making sure that there is proper vetting. There are new systems that they are putting in place now. We鈥檝e had a new entry and exit protocol that they鈥檝e 鈥 [put] in the different substations.鈥
鈥淪o this is something that we have prioritised because we realised that it was a weakness and since then we have put in those mechanisms to ensure that we are able to control exit into the substations. But also, what we are doing is investing more money into safeguarding the physical infrastructure itself.鈥
