Israel鈥檚 government confirmed this morning that Israel has accepted the ceasefire deal with Iran brokered by President Trump. But minutes after the ceasefire was meant to have started, a new Iranian barrage was detected. And overnight four people were killed and dozens injured when a residential building was hit in Beersheva. In a statement, Israel said: 鈥淟ast night, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu convened the Cabinet together with the Minister of Defence, the IDF Chief of Staff, and the Head of the Mossad to report that Israel has achieved all the objectives of Operation 鈥淩ising Lion鈥 鈥 and far beyond. 鈥淚srael has eliminated a dual, immediate existential threat 鈥 both in the nuclear field and in the realm of ballistic missiles. Trump announced that the ceasefire was in effect a little over an hour after it was supposed to start, writing on his Truth Social account in all caps: 鈥淭HE CEASEFIRE IS NOW IN EFFECT. PLEASE DO NOT VIOLATE IT! DONALD J. TRUMP, PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES!鈥 The Israeli government subsequently announced on Tuesday morning that it had agreed to the truce after achieving all its objectives in 鈥淥peration Rising Lion.鈥 US Ambassador to Israel Mike Huckabee reacted to the ceasefire on X, writing that he was 鈥渁wakened by phone instead of ballistic missile鈥 at 3 a.m. in Israel as Trump delivered 鈥済reat news of [a] ceasefire soon to be in place.鈥 Huckabee added that the 12-day conflict 鈥渇elt like 12 months,鈥 and praised the president for not just praying for peace, but delivering it, thanking him for bringing relief to the region.
