Trump Creeps Everyone Out By Complimenting Female Reporter In Awkward Clip

US President Donald Trump has given social media users the ick after he showered a female reporter with praise in a viral video.

The bizarre moment happened during a peace signing ceremony between the Democratic Republic of the Congo and Rwanda facilitated by the US at the White House on Friday, which was meant to end decades of conflict in eastern Congo.

White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt invited Angolan reporter Hariana Ver谩s, a native of Africa who covers the White House, to attend the ceremony alongside many others, including Democratic Republic of the Congo Foreign Minister Th茅r猫se Kayikwamba Wagner, Rwandan Foreign Minister Olivier Nduhungirehe and US Vice President JD Vance.

During the ceremony, Trump appeared to get friendly with Ver谩s despite revealing that he had apparently been advised by Leavitt not to comment on the reporter鈥檚 appearance.

鈥淜aroline said this, number one, that I shouldn鈥檛 say this because it鈥檚 politically incorrect,鈥 Trump told Ver谩s before calling her 鈥渂eautiful.鈥

Declaring that 鈥淚鈥檓 not allowed to say that,鈥 the POTUS then joked, 鈥淵ou know that could be the end of my political career.鈥

Trump added to Ver谩s: 鈥淏ut you are beautiful鈥攁nd you鈥檙e beautiful inside. I wish I had more reporters like you.鈥

Ver谩s beamed over the compliment while attendees in the room laughed over Trump鈥檚 praise for the journalist.

Over on Reddit, users had a lot to say about Trump鈥檚 interaction with the reporter.

鈥淚t鈥檚 giving embarrassing grandpa talking to a server at Applebee鈥檚,鈥 one person wrote.

Another alleged, 鈥淭his is the only value he attributes to women. Beautiful or not beautiful. Women have no other worth to him whatsoever.鈥

Someone else argued that 鈥渨e don鈥檛 always have to say what we think,鈥 adding, 鈥淪ometimes it鈥檚 best if things just stay thoughts and never become words. That鈥檚 called 鈥榤anners.鈥欌

A separate user called out Vance鈥檚 behaviour in the clip, writing, 鈥淰ance in the back acting like this is normal and adorable.鈥

Meanwhile on X, formerly Twitter, more social media users shared their thoughts on the awkward clip.

鈥淭rump鈥檚 objectification of women, even in professional settings, exemplifies his ongoing disregard for gender equality and respect, perpetuating a toxic culture that undermines women鈥檚 roles and contributions,鈥 someone said.

Another person questioned, 鈥淲hen in the world has it been gross to recognise beauty?鈥

Someone else added, 鈥淪he actually does look very nice I like her outfit but what an odd thing to say.鈥
