The district administration on Thursday said temporary bus stands and special bus services had been arranged ahead of the consecration ceremony of Tiruchendur Subramanya Swamy temple on July 7.
To facilitate convenient travel for devotees, Tamil Nadu State Transport Corporation鈥檚 (TNSTC), Tirunelveli division has arranged special bus services to Tiruchendur from various parts of Tamil Nadu from July 5 to July 8. A total of 600 additional buses will be operated, in addition to regular bus services from major cities including Chennai, Coimbatore, Tiruppur, Salem, Madurai, Rameswaram, Thoothukudi, Tirunelveli and Nagercoil.
In view of the large crowd and to ease traffic congestion, three temporary bus stands have been set up in Tiruchendur. One of them has been established near Vettavelimadam on Tirunelveli road, from where buses will be operated towards Tirunelveli, Papanasam, Tenkasi, Sunrandai, Sankarankoil and Rajapalayam.
Another bus stand has been created on Thoothukudi road opposite to Sivanthi Aditanar Memorial. From this location, buses will run to Thoothukudi, Kovilapatti, Rameswaram, Aruppukottai, Vialthukula, Madurai, Coimbatore, Tiruppur, Erode, Tiruchi, Chennai and Salem. The third temporary bus stand is located on Kanniyakumari road, near theppakulam and will serve buses bound for Sathankulam, Thisayanvilai, Valliyoor, Nagercoil and Kanniyakumri.
Furthermore, to ensure easier access to the temple for devotees, a total of 30 special shuttle buses will be operated from all three temporary bus stands to the entrance of the temple.
