This Indian State Has A Haunted Village That Vanishes Every Night - Locals Believe It's Cursed

Located 18 kms away from the bustling town of Jaisalmer is Kuldhara – a village so scary that even the desert winds whisper stories of its ghostly past. Once a settlement of Paliwal Brahmins, Kuldhara has now been abandoned for over two centuries. As per local legends, the village vanishes every night. Locals suggest that strange things happen here once the sun sets. There have been reports of people hearing footsteps late at night – infact, it also feels like the entire village has slipped into some other realm – only to reappear with sunrise. Kuldhara’s HistoryThe chilling tale begins in the early 1800s when the village thrived under the Paliwal Brahmins – who were known for skills like agricultural skills, and water management in the arid region. However, this prosperity brought envy. Salim Singh, the powerful and ruthless prime minister of Jaisalmer, laid eyes on the village head’s beautiful daughter. He wanted to get married to her. And if not done, he threatened of dire consequences. Rather than surrendering, the people of Kuldhara made a collective decision. The entire population, which included over 1,500 villagers, vanished in a single night. However, before leaving, they are believed to have placed a curse on the land — that no one would ever be able to settle here again.\ And it is believed that the curse stands true till date. There have been numerous attempts to repopulate Kuldhara. However, locals say that anyone who tries to spend the night either falls ill, loses their mind, or flees by morning. Paranormal investigators have also made some spine-chilling revealtions. They felt sudden drops in temperature, whispers in the wind, and unexplainable shadows walking through abandoned houses. According to reports, tourists claim that their watches freeze, phone batteries drain within minutes, and also GPS fails to load. Some even say that after dusk, the village becomes larger and then suddenly disappears at dawn.
