Brondby star Mathias Kvistgaarden looks set to seal a move to Norwich City in the coming days – after Celtic dropped their long-standing interest in the striker. The Danish hitman was on the radar of the Scottish champions last summer when Parkhead chiefs explored the prospect of an 拢8m move before bringing in Adam Idah on a 拢9million permanent switch from the Canaries. Following the departure of Kyogo Furuhashi in January a move for the 23-year-old was again floated – but a deal failed to get over the line Brondby standing firm on their 拢12million valuation. This summer, Kvistgaarden declared he was ready to leave Denmark behind stating: “I think I’m ready. I’ve made my mark at Brondby and in the Superliga, so I’m ready to take the next step.” But Record Sport previously revealed that Celtic ‘s interest cooled on the move as they switched attention to other targets amid reservations about the player鈥檚 fit at Celtic Park. Now Tipsbladet report that Norwich are leading the race for a deal with Kvistgaarden keen on the switch to Carrow Road after Lens pulled out of the race. Despite dropping their interest in the Dane, a striker is still on the agenda for Brendan Rodgers, with Dominic Calvert-Lewin touted as a target after the 28-year-old’s Everton contract expired. The Shields Gazette report that Sunderland are currently in pole position to land the free agent but face a challenge from Scotland with the England international “attracting attention” from the Hoops. Slovan Bratislava star David Strelec was subject of a 拢7.5m offer from the Hoops in January – with the Slovakian champions holding out for 拢9million – but hasn’t been shy in opening the door to a Celtic switch this summer. But Ajax are reportedly currently leading the race for the frontman this summer. Voetbal Primeur claim that the Dutch side are “considering” an offer to Slovan and have entered talks with Strelec’s camp to pitch a move.
