If Carpenter is engaging in satire, she鈥檚 doing it better than Perry. Her lyrics and persona are more knowing, less the 鈥淚鈥檓 catching up to the culture鈥 of an aging pop star and more the 鈥淚 will turn your criticism into a part of my brand鈥 of Taylor Swift. And she鈥檚 admitted that she鈥檚 just giving fans what they want. 鈥淚t鈥檚 always so funny to me when people complain,鈥 she told Rolling Stone about her sexualized music. 鈥淭hey鈥檙e like, 鈥楢ll she does is sing about this.鈥 But those are the songs that you鈥檝e made popular. Clearly you love sex. You鈥檙e obsessed with it.鈥
