The best courtside style at Wimbledon 2025: from Cate Blanchett to David Beckham

Wimbledon might not be the Oscars, fashion week or the Met Gala, but it does have its own sartorial prowess. With smart dressing advised and countless celebs spotted in the stands each day, it all makes for a rather stylish affair.

That’s to say nothing of the players, who are increasingly fashion-aligned themselves. Sport and style have never been such close allies, and tennis is one of the many factions to have benefited from sports’ fashionable facelift.

Granted, all-white outfits against green grass have always held a certain je nais sais quois, but it’s been given a little boost by certain tennis pros and their newly elevated style. Take Italian pro (and world No. 1) Jannik Sinner and his Gucci duffle bag, or the Savile Row-inspired lace New Balance look worn by American player (and world No. 2) Coco Gauff on Wimbledon day two.

Over in the Royal Box, Manchester United legend and freshly knighted Sir David Beckham looked dapper on day one in a cream double-breasted suit by Hugo Boss. A waffle knit brown tie and powder blue shirt brought the look together, with aviator sunglasses and a mysterious hand bandage to top it all off. The former England captain later confirmed this was due to a surgical screw needing to be removed from his hand.

Beckham’s appearance comes amid a reported ongoing family feud, but the former footballer showed no whiff of concern as he enjoyed watching the tennis alongside former England manager Gareth Southgate.

British actor Eddie Redmayne was also a vision in cream tailoring, accompanied by his wife Hannah Bagshawe, who wore a crimson button-down polka dot dress cinched at the waist with a double belt. It was an impressive appearance from Redmayne on more than just the fashion front, given that the actor hot-footed it back from Glastonbury Festival in time to make the Monday matches, which is no mean feat.

Also looking stylish was Irish TV presenter Angela Scanlon, who rocked up in a matching pinstriped silk shirt and trouser set by Serena Bute. A vision in pink, the star completed her look with a pair of Jimmy Fairly metallic oval sunglasses.

Then there was Barbie star Simu Liu and his wife Allison Hsu, who looked chic in their subtle white and grey looks.

On day two, the sartorial standout was undoubtedly Aussie actress Cate Blanchett, who arrived wearing a Giorgio Armani metallic suit reminiscent of her legendary Ocean’s Eight suiting. She rubbed shoulders with unlikely bestie (and fellow Australian) Rebel Wilson, with the two spotted making each other laugh in the stands.

Representing the men was actor Russell Crowe, who wore a dark suit, white shirt and aviators, accessorised with a colourful tartan tie that made the outfit feel a little more seasonal.
