Grammy-winning singer, Temilade Openiyi, popularly known as Tems, has launched an initiative aimed at helping female creatives reach their true potential.
In a clip posted on her social media pages, the singer noted that there are thousands of young women with a voice, a gift, and a desire to be heard.
鈥淚 want to be someone that shows people that there鈥檚 hope because I know that the most heartbreaking thing is to see a light dimmed and a fire never ignited. While the music industry is great, there hasn鈥檛 always been a space for women. Women creators, women producers, women engineers, women writers.
鈥淭hat is why I鈥檓 starting the Leading Vibe Initiative for the ones that believe, for the ones that have a desire to be heard and a dream to be seen. The ones who dare to be different and who are just waiting for that one space that they can express and be the best versions of themselves. The ones who are not afraid to lead,鈥 she said.
Describing it as a movement, she said that the Initiative is built for women, by women, from the continent to the world.
鈥淣ow is the time to rise, the time to be seen, the time to be heard, the time to believe and to bet on yourself. You don鈥檛 need to wait any longer. The time is now. So let鈥檚 take that leap together. We are the leading vibe and we鈥檙e just getting started,鈥 Tems added.
Meanwhile, the singer is billed to perform at the FIFA Club World Cup finals. In a statement on his Instagram page Monday, FIFA President Gianni Infantino revealed that the Grammy-winner will join a blockbuster entertainment lineup for the show.
The 29-year-old will perform at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey on July 13, sharing the stage with Colombian singer J Balvin and American rapper-singer Doja Cat.
