KUCHING, June 26: The Sarawak Ministry of Education, Innovation, and Talent Development (MEITD) has warned the public not to fall for false offers of free tertiary education from unauthorised individuals or agents, stating that no third party has been appointed to represent the government or its agencies in offering the Sarawak Free Tertiary Education Scheme (FTES).
In a media statement issued today, the Ministry emphasised that it or any agency under the Sarawak government has never appointed any individual, agent, or third party to offer free tertiary education, including under FTES.
鈥淭he Ministry takes seriously the information received regarding the actions of certain individuals or parties promising free education opportunities in exchange for payments or certain rewards. Such actions are unlawful and can be deemed as attempted fraud,鈥 the statement read.
MEITD asserted that it will not hesitate to take legal action against any individual or group found to be cheating or misusing the name of the Ministry and the Sarawak government for personal gain.
鈥淚n this regard, the Ministry urges the public not to be easily deceived by such offers and to remain vigilant towards individuals or parties claiming to represent the Government in matters relating to free education.
鈥淎ny suspicions or attempted fraud should be immediately reported to the relevant authorities.鈥
The Ministry further stated that any official announcements regarding FTES will only be issued by MEITD through the official communication channels of the Sarawak government. 鈥 DayakDaily
