Suryakumar Yadav Undergoes Hernia Surgery In Germany, India Captain Shares Big Message On Return And Recovery

India’s T20I captain, Suryakumar Yadav had a successful surgery in Munich, Germany for a sports hernia in his lower right abdomen. In around two weeks, the 34-year-old batter, who is presently recovering, is anticipated to start rehabilitation at the BCCI’s Centre of Excellence in Bengaluru. “Life Update: Underwent surgery for a sports hernia in the lower right abdomen. Grateful to share that after a smooth surgery, I’m already on the road to recovery. Can’t wait to be back,” Suryakumar posted on social media on Wednesday. The surgery was planned to coincide with a break in Suryakumar’s travel schedule. Before opting to have the surgery, he even made a brief appearance in the T20 Mumbai League, captaining Triumph Knights Mumbai North East and amassing 122 runs in five innings. India’s shortest-format strategy has entered a daring new chapter under Suryakumar’s leadership since he assumed the T20I captaincy after India’s World Cup victory in June 2024. A younger core has adopted ultra-aggressive batting since stalwarts Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, and Ravindra Jadeja retired, enabling India to routinely score totals far over 250 runs, including a spectacular 297 against Bangladesh, the second-highest total in T20I history. Suryakumar should be fully recovered in time to captain India in their upcoming T20 International match and continue to influence the post-World Cup period if his recuperation proceeds according to plan.
