The holiday season is in full swing and jet-setters are filling up their luggage with their favourite clothes. Yet the dread of discovering your neatly pressed garments have turned into a crumpled mess upon arriving at your destination can quite spoil the excitement. Travel aficionados argue over the best packing tactics for maximising space and minimising creases — be it rolling, folding, using cubes, or opting for the bundle wrap approach. However, experts from Skyscanner contend that discarding an easy “anti-wrinkle” packing sequence is what really leads to clothes getting wrinkled. So if you want to know how to load your baggage “like a pro”, sparing you the hassle of ironing during your break or, heaven forbid, sporting wrinkly clothes, here’s the scoop. A travelling expert has shared that keeping weightier items next to the wheels will help prevent wrinkles, reports the Express . They advised: “Put any heavy or bulky items (shampoo, shoes etc) in your case first and place them at the bottom near the wheels. It helps the weight distribution of the case and won’t squish and wrinkle your clothes.” Heavy goods like footwear, outerwear, and bath towels typically weigh down your bag. Parking them at the bottom establishes a sound, even foundation, alleviating stress on the layers above, hence reducing the likelihood of creasing. The expert offered additional advice for wrinkle-free apparel. They suggested: “No one wants a pile of ironing on holiday. To save space and stop creasing, roll your clothes instead of folding, then place them in vacuum compression bags. Simply put your clothes in, seal the bag, then squeeze the air out.” Another top tip for savvy travellers is to utilise packing cubes or travel organisers. These handy accessories can streamline packing and make it a breeze to locate your items once you’ve reached your destination. The specialist advised: “When it comes to packing, make use of every inch of suitcase space. Roll tops, underwear, socks and other small items, and stuff them into your shoes to make sure every possible space is filled.” “Use empty lip balm containers to hide rolled-up notes. Consider travel insurance too,” recommended the travel gurus at Skyscanner.
