SpiceJet receives first two overhauled engines, ungrounds another Boeing 737 NG

Indian airline SpiceJet on Thursday said that it has received the first two overhauled engines from global MRO (maintenance, repair, and overhaul) firm StandardAero, marking a key step in the airline鈥檚 phased fleet restoration plan. The engines include a CFM LEAP鈥1B unit used in Boeing 737 MAX aircraft, overhauled at StandardAero鈥檚 Houston facility, and a Q400 engine serviced in Singapore.The airline also said that another grounded Boeing 737 Next-Generation aircraft has returned to service, which is set to aid its operational capacity.SpiceJet shares were up by nearly 2%, trading at Rs 40.25 apiece on BSE as of 12.40 PM on Thursday.As part of a broader fleet revival initiative, SpiceJet has sent a total of 17 engines for overhaul. With the arrival of the first two, the airline anticipates a regular inflow of overhauled engines over the coming months.Live EventsSix of the CFM LEAP鈥1B engines are currently undergoing work at StandardAero鈥檚 Houston facility, while seven Q400 engines are being serviced in Singapore.
