While we’ve witnessed plenty of major trends rise and fall this year already, this summer has been all about embracing micro trends in a big way, from tomato girl summer to Euro-style. But the latest to pop up on our social feeds is picnic-core, which is essentially all about channelling that classic picnic aesthetic.
Picture basket bags, floral prints and of course, loads of gingham, and one celeb leading the charge with this look is Sofia Richie Grainge. The model was spotted in a gingham co-ord, complete with a matching headscarf, on Instagram recently while holidaying in France, and it’s safe to say her followers were loving her look.

“The look in the second pic is so good oh my goooooodness” commented one, while another tagged a celeb style spotting account, asking: “Hii can you ID her gingham set and matching scarf? Looks like Hunza but not sure.”
The sharp-eyed fan was indeed spot on, as Sofia’s entire ensemble comes from Hunza G, known for its celebrity-loved crinkle swimsuits. The model was sporting the Gingham Seersucker Shirt (拢195) and the coordinating Gingham Seersucker Shorts (拢125), which she topped off with the aptly named Sofia Gingham Seersucker Headscarf (拢25).
If you’re after something a bit more wallet-friendly, ASOS offers a similar co-ord with its Revere Collar Resort Shirt (拢32) and Pull on Shorts (拢22), although the shirt sports short sleeves rather than Sofia’s long ones. You can also nab the Sui Ava Gingham Headband Head Scarf for 拢11 to finish off the look, though your colour options are limited to beige and white or blue and white.
However, Sofia’s headscarf is quite reasonably priced at 拢25, making it an ideal way to pinch a bit of the star’s style without splashing out. While picnic-core might be a fleeting micro trend, gingham print is timeless and easy to style, so you can hit the trend while still adding a piece to your wardrobe that you’ll don time and again.
Sofia’s gingham set was also a top choice for holiday, with its seersucker fabric being quick drying and offering plenty of stretch. It’s also lightweight and breathable, helping keep you cool and comfy while you wear it, reports the Mirror.
Her headscarf is made from the same quick drying fabric, making it perfect for wicking sweat and humidity away from your hair, not to mention shielding your scalp from sunburn. It also comes in several other prints and colours, so you can select one that matches your style.
