The State Bank of India (SBI) will close the online registration window today for the Circle Based Officer (CBO) Recruitment 2025, which offers 2,964 vacancies across various circles. The application process, which reopened on June 21, is set to end tonight. Interested and eligible candidates must visit the official website at sbi.co.in and complete their applications before the deadline.
Who Can Apply?
To be eligible, candidates must hold a degree in any discipline from a recognised university or have an equivalent qualification recognised by the Central Government. Degrees in professional fields such as Medicine, Engineering, Chartered Accountancy, or Cost Accountancy are also accepted.
Applicants should have a minimum of 2 years’ experience working as an officer in a Scheduled Commercial Bank or Regional Rural Bank as of April 30, 2025. A certificate confirming job responsibilities from the current employer is mandatory. SBI has clarified that if a candidate’s role does not match that of a Generalist Officer (Scale 1) in SBI, the application will be rejected.
Age Criteria
The age of applicants must be between 21 and 30 years, which means the candidate should be born between May 1, 1995, and April 30, 2004. Relaxation in age is available for reserved categories:
SC/ST: 5 years
OBC (NCL): 3 years
PwBD: 10 years
Ex-Servicemen: 5 years
Language Requirement
Candidates must also be proficient in the local language of the circle they are applying for. This includes the ability to read, write, and speak the language. Proof of proficiency should be shown through academic records (having studied the language in Class 10 or 12).
What’s The Selection Process?
The recruitment involves three main stages:
Online Test
Objective Test: 2 hours, 120 marks
Descriptive Test: 30 minutes, 50 marks (includes letter and essay writing)
Carrying 50 marks. Only those who qualify will be considered for the final merit list.
Local Language Test
To confirm proficiency in the local language of the chosen circle.
A state- and category-wise merit list will be prepared based on the interview performance.

Salary And Benefits
Selected candidates will receive a starting basic pay of Rs 48,480, falling under the pay scale of Rs 48,480 – Rs 85,920 for Junior Management Grade Scale-I. The package also includes Dearness Allowance (DA), House Rent Allowance (HRA), City Compensatory Allowance (CCA), medical benefits, and other perks.
Candidates with two or more years of experience will be entitled to one additional increment per year.
