With a career spanning over four decades, Sanjay Dutt has established himself as one of the top stars in Hindi cinema. Despite his popularity among the masses, the Bollywood icon, known for his unforgettable roles in Vaastav, Munna Bhai MBBS and Agneepath, shared that he was not his kids鈥 favourite actor. The 65-year-old star welcomed twins, Shahraan and Iqra, with his third wife, Manyata Dutt, in 2010.
Sanjay told The Times of India that his kids were big fans of the 鈥測ounger lot of actors.鈥 When asked whether his teenagers were interested in following in his footsteps and have a passion for movies like him, he said, 鈥淭hey do watch movies, but I am not their favourite actor and that鈥檚 okay (laughs). They like Tiger Shroff and the younger lot, which is good.鈥 The actor added that he encourages his children to complete their education and attend university before deciding whether they want to pursue a career in film or another field.
The Khalnayak actor was all set to embark on a new chapter of his career, this time, down South. He is set to appear in the Telugu film The RajaSaab, alongside Prabhas and the Kannada film KD 鈥 The Devil, featuring an ensemble cast of Dhruva Sarja, Reeshma Nanaiah, Shilpa Shetty, and Nora Fatehi, among others.
Sharing his experience of working in the South Indian film industry, Sanjay said, 鈥淚t鈥檚 a great place to be in.鈥
He then explained, 鈥淭heir sensibility of cinema is what we have had all our lives 鈥 to cater to the masses, to enhance the hero on screen and to do all that which I think Bollywood has forgotten to do now.鈥 He mentioned that he loved shooting with the South filmmakers because they were passionate about making films. He hoped that the passion for making films would come back to Bollywood.
The 65-year-old actor added that Bollywood needed to revisit the old days and explore the cinema which once celebrated the industry. He added, 鈥淚 wish these kinds of films were back as this is exactly what we are lacking today. We should just go back to our roots.鈥
Most recently, Sanjay Dutt was seen in two films. First, The Bhootnii, a horror comedy film written and directed by Sidhaant Sachdev. Next, he played a police officer in Akshay Kumar鈥檚 Housefull 5.
