After facing immense backlash over the racy artwork of her upcoming album Man’s Best Friend, Sabrina Carpenter decided to unveil a new one. She subtly responded to the criticism in her own way, telling people on the internet that the new cover art is approved by “God” himself. The prolific pop star is set to release the follow-up to Short n’ Sweet on August 29, almost exactly a year later.
On Wednesday, June 25, Sabrina shared an alternate cover for Man’s Best Friend. In it, the singer, dressed in a sleeveless dress, was seen holding onto a man’s hand, whose back is towards the camera. Besides them, there are a few other men in the background in formal suits.
Alongside the new cover picture, Sabrina wrote in the caption, “I signed some copies of Man’s Best Friend for you guys & here is a new alternate cover approved by God, available now on my website,” followed by a white heart emoji.

Her subtle dig towards those who criticised the singer for her previous cover, received hilarious reactions from her fans, one of whom said, “OG FTW!!! Instantly iconic.” Another added, “‘Approved by god’ haha I freaking love you.” A different fan wrote, “The caption she’s so unserious.”
If you don’t know about the controversy, then let us tell you that Sabrina released the first cover art for her album Man’s Best Friend on June 11, which immediately caused a huge uproar on social media. In the picture, donning a little black dress, Sabrina was seen on all fours while a man pulled her hair. The bold visual shocked many fans and sparked debates across social media, with some even calling it for being highly inappropriate and the objectification of women.

Prior to releasing the racy artwork, Sabrina dropped the lead single of Man’s Best Friend, called Manchild on June 5, co-written with Jack Antonoff and Amy Allen. The upcoming album will be her seventh studio album.
Besides an album release, Sabrina also has her hands full with her ongoing fifth concert tour, titled Short n’ Sweet. On July 5 and 6, the 26-year-old singer will be performing at Hyde Park in London. Following this, she will once again bring her tour back to the States and Canada. She will conclude the tour in November this year.
