Rylan Clark accused of 'stealing man' from BBC co-star in awkward confrontation

Former X Factor sensation Rylan Clark , 36, and his BBC Radio 2 mate Sally Boazman, 67, often share a laugh about their single status and escapades in dating. However, a recent exchange turned heated as they recounted a memorable pub outing in London. On Rylan’s Saturday show, he reminisced with traffic guru Sally, sharing: “We did have a funny time in the pub, didn’t we?” Sally responded warmly: “We were in the pub at two o’clock. I did have a nice time, it was lovely actually, I really enjoyed it.” Celebrity Gogglebox star Rylan, ever the joker, cheekily disclosed: “You were chatting up the barman…” but Sally was swift to clarify the afternoon’s events. Sally challenged him: “Excuse me, who was chatting up the barman?” with Rylan playfully insisting: “You were chatting up the barman!”. Seeking to correct the record, Sally said to Rylan: “And then you took over!” Rylan promptly defended himself, explaining he was attempting to play the wingman: “I did not take over! I was your wingwoman – wingman! I thought you were in there, he gave you a sunflower..” Unimpressed, Sally retorted: “He did give me a sunflower, and I was doing really well, and then you butt your nose in..” Rylan justified himself by saying a conversation with the barman sprang up naturally when they discussed his stint on Doctor Who as the host of The Interstellar Song Contest. The Radio 2 favourite revealed: “He started talking to me about Doctor Who, that’s not my problem! Listen, he was asking me about Doctor Who and actually, what I was saying was, ‘yeah it was really great doing The Interstellar Song Contest but Sally, she used to live round here actually, she used to live in Fitzrovia’ – I was bringing it back to you all the time!”. An upset Sally remarked: “But he never looked at me again after that,” which led Rylan to cheekily retort: “He gave you a sunflower and it was a girthy one, I’ve never seen a girthier sunflower!”. “It was like an arm, it was like a baby’s arm! See, if he weren’t into you Sal, he wouldn’t have given that to you.” Since splitting from his ex-husband Dan Neal in 2021 after a six-year marriage, Rylan has returned to the single life. In his new BBC Sounds podcast, ‘Rylan: How To Be In Love,’ he’s been candidly discussing his search for love post-divorce, including a playful comment about his camaraderie with Rob Rinder . Despite both TV personalities affirming their just-friends status, the dynamic on their BBC travel series, ‘Rob and Rylan’s Grand Tour,’ raised eyebrows among viewers, leading Rylan to jest on a recent episode: “We are like a married couple, we row all the time and don’t have sex like a proper married couple. We might as well put a ring on it.”
