The betterment of and investment into the Costa Blanca infrastructure continues: the Rojales Town Hall has pledged more than €500,000 into two new trucks specifically for the management of biodegradable waste. This is part of a coastwide effort to better prepare Costa Blanca South for the summer, when tourism is at a peak and the popular ports are bustling with people.
The funds are divided between two trucks: one measuring 22 metres cubed, and another, more compact truck measuring 7 metres cubed. The larger of the trucks is estimated to cost around €322,000, and the smaller is estimated to cost just over €185,000. The plan aims to modernise Rojales waste management while also making a significant positive impact on the environment and avoid unnecessary wastefulness.
The trucks will have advanced technological equipment for the recycling of the bio-waste, such as weighing systems, geolocation, and routing software. They will also be personalised for the Rojales Town Hall with the colours and the logo. Additionally, the funding includes a warranty on the trucks, training for the staff, and initial maintenance services.
This project, part of what is called the Recuperation, Transformation, and Resilience Plan, is funded by the European Union through the Next Generation EU fund, originally established in 2020 by the European Union to combat the worldwide COVID-19 pandemic.
