Roger Waters returns to the big screen

Music lovers and Pink Floyd fans alike are in for an unforgettable experience this July as Eden Cinemas presents Roger Waters: This Is Not A Drill 鈥 Live from Prague. The much-anticipated concert film, brought to audiences worldwide by Trafalgar Releasing and Sony Music Vision, offers a bold, immersive, and deeply personal look at one of the most iconic musicians of our time. Scheduled to screen locally on July 23 and July 27, the film captures the final tour of Roger Waters: co-founder, lyricist, and conceptual mastermind behind Pink Floyd in breathtaking cinematic quality. Shot live at the O2 Arena in Prague on May 25, 2023, and directed by longtime creative collaborator Sean Evans, this film promises a powerful blend of music, politics, and emotion that spans six decades of groundbreaking artistry. Billed as Waters鈥 鈥渇irst ever farewell tour,鈥 This Is Not A Drill is not just a concert, but a call to consciousness. It鈥檚 a visually arresting critique of modern society, a searing indictment of the corporate and political dystopia many feel suffocated by, and a passionate plea to reclaim humanity, justice, and empathy in an increasingly disconnected world. Dedicated 鈥渢o our brothers and sisters all over the world who are engaged in the existential battle for the soul of humanity,鈥 the film underscores Waters鈥 long-standing commitment to social and political activism through music. The concert film features a rich selection of 20 songs from both Waters鈥 solo career and his time with Pink Floyd. Fans can expect hauntingly familiar anthems such as Us & Them, Wish You Were Here, Comfortably Numb, and Another Brick in the Wall, alongside newer, critically acclaimed tracks like Is This The Life We Really Want? and his recent release, The Bar. Together, the setlist forms a powerful narrative arc, one that is deeply reflective, musically masterful, and emotionally stirring. This is not simply a nostalgia trip. It鈥檚 a cinematic statement鈥攁 layered, thought-provoking experience combining sound, light, video, and architecture to challenge viewers on both a visceral and intellectual level. The concert is performed 鈥渋n the round鈥 on a 360掳 stage, designed to engage every section of the audience. At the centre of the venue stands a large, cross-shaped platform with extended runways, while above, massive LED screens spanning over 650 square meters across 12 panels display striking visuals and provocative messages that bring the music鈥檚 themes to life. Filmed in ultra-crisp 8K resolution and enhanced with an immersive audio mix, the production sets a new benchmark for concert films. Every detail, from the flicker of a spotlight to the raw emotion in Waters鈥 voice, is captured with stunning clarity. Backing Waters on stage is a formidable band of musicians, including Jonathan Wilson, Dave Kilminster, Jon Carin, Gus Seyffert, Joey Waronker, Robert Walter, Shanay Johnson, Amanda Belair, and Seamus Blake. Together, they deliver a performance that is not only technically flawless but emotionally resonant. In true Roger Waters fashion, the show doesn鈥檛 shy away from confronting global issues head-on be it war, greed, environmental collapse, or systemic injustice. Yet amid the darkness, it also offers hope. Through poetry, storytelling, and the sheer force of music, Waters crafts a narrative that urges us not just to look at the world as it is, but to imagine how it could be. Accompanying the film is a forthcoming live album, scheduled for release on August 1, 2025, via Legacy Recordings (Sony Music Entertainment). The performance will be available in multiple formats, including a 4-LP set, Blu-Ray, 2-CD, DVD, and digital audio. A preview clip featuring Wish You Were Here has already been released, giving fans a taste of what鈥檚 to come. Roger Waters: This Is Not A Drill 鈥 Live from Prague isn鈥檛 just a film鈥攊t鈥檚 a cultural event, a political manifesto, and a moving farewell from one of rock鈥檚 most enduring and visionary voices.
