Revenue employees strike work in Krishnagiri

Members of various revenue associations under the banner Federation of Revenue Associations (FERA) led a protest demonstration, and a rally here over a raft of demands alongside striking work here on Wednesday (June 25, 2025).

The association demanded 鈥榩rotection鈥 to revenue employees, especially those on the field, in-charge of disaster management and land survey. According to the association, these class of revenue employees were subjected to threats and work stress and that a separate legislation must be made to protect them from public assaults on the one hand and provide for enhanced pay.

Further, the association demanded that all disaster management and other programmes must be worked through appointment of permanent employees and not outsourced to external agencies.

The FERA members also condemned the lowering of the percentage of 鈥榗ompassionate鈥 employment from the earlier 25% to 5 % . According to the association, a G.O. was issued by the government reducing the percentage of provision for employment on compassionate grounds to 5%. This would adversely affect the families of staff who pass on during service. Stating that the move was unfair, the association called for reversal to the earlier system.

The association also claimed 鈥渟tressful鈥 conditions of work and 鈥渦nreasonable鈥 targets for revenue staff. It called for creation of 鈥榗onditions and compensation鈥 to commensurate with the responsibilities of the job.
