The Golden State Warriors have been relatively quiet so far this offseason, but that doesn’t mean the team won’t look to add talent. After being eliminated in the second round of the NBA Playoffs by the Minnesota Timberwolves following Stephen Curry’s hamstring injury, it’s clear that more work is needed. While the Warriors are not too far away, they need another piece or two.Jimmy Butler being acquired ahead of the trade deadline was a big step in the right direction. Now, there are a good number of free agents and trade targets for Golden State to consider. With that being said, a new name has been brought up that would be a very intriguing fit.Read more: Rockets Named Among Top Damian Lillard SuitorsAccording to a report from ESPN NBA insider Marc Spears, the Warriors have shown early interest in star free agent point guard Damian Lillard. He was released by the Milwaukee Bucks to make room for the team to sign free agent center Myles Turner.Lillard would be an extremely interesting pickup for Golden State. He would add more shooting and scoring, although there would be questions about how he could fit alongside of Curry.Right now, the 34-year-old star is recovering from a torn Achilles that he suffered in the Bucks’ first-round playoff loss against the Indiana Pacers. He is expected to miss a good portion of the 2025-26 season, although there are rumblings that he could be back around the All-Star break.Even though it’s good to have optimism, a 34-year-old guard bouncing back so quickly from an Achilles tear might be a bit far-fetched.Regardless of when he returns, the team that signs him will likely give Lillard a two-year deal. That would give him time to recover and get back to 100 percent for the second year of the contract.During the 2024-25 NBA season with Milwaukee, Lillard played in 58 games. He dealt with blood clot issues that ended his regular season early before returning in the playoffs.Read more: Report: Trail Blazers Could Reunite With Damian Lillard After Bucks’ ReleaseIn the 58 games he played, Lillard averaged 24.9 points, 7.1 assists, 4.7 rebounds, and 1.2 steals per game.
