New Delhi, Jul 3 (PTI) The makers of 鈥淩amayana鈥, billed as an ambitious cinematic event, on Thursday unveiled the first glimpse of the upcoming mythological epic, featuring Ranbir Kapoor, Yash and Sai Pallavi in the lead roles.
Directed by Nitesh Tiwari and produced by Namit Malhotra鈥檚 Prime Focus Studios and DNEG, in association with Yash鈥檚 Monster Mind Creations, the film is a two-part live-action saga set 5,000 years ago and rooted in one of Indian mythology鈥檚 most enduring epics, a press release said.
鈥淩amayana鈥 features Ranbir as Lord Rama, 鈥淜GF鈥 star Yash as Ravana and Sai Pallavi as Goddess Sita as Sunny Deol as Lord Hanuman and Ravie Dubey as Lord Lakshman.
Tiwari said he hopes 鈥淩amayana鈥 evokes pride in the hearts of every Indian.
鈥淔or me, the most important aspect is the emotions and the pride of the great culture heritage that we have in our country. If we can evoke that and show it to the whole world I think that would be an achievement,鈥 the director said at the teaser launch of the movie.
Malhotra said they are leaving no stone unturned to make 鈥淩amayana鈥 in the best possible way.
鈥淚t has been a very, very long dream that we have been collaborating to put our hearts, soul and life into this so that we can do justice to this epic. My only aspiration is with pride how we take our greatest culture, our greatest part of our history and share it with the world.
鈥淚 want all of us Indians to stand there proud, not just celebrating this for ourselves, but also be able to share this at the greatest level when we take it to the world. We are working incredibly hard and we will leave no stone unturned to make sure that we deliver the very best that anybody in the world can try,鈥 he said.
The film鈥檚 crew includes renowned international artists, including Oscar-winning composers Hans Zimmer and A R Rahman, who are collaborating on the score.
The action sequences are choreographed by Hollywood stunt veterans Terry Notary and Guy Norris, and the film鈥檚 visual world is being shaped by production designers Ravi Bansal of 鈥淒une 2鈥 fame and Ramsey Avery as 鈥淐aptain America鈥.
As part of the global reveal, titled 鈥淩amayana: The Introduction鈥, fan screenings were held across nine Indian cities, alongside a striking billboard takeover in New York鈥檚 Times Square.
The first part is slated to release worldwide in IMAX during Diwali 2026, with part two following in Diwali 2027. PTI RB RB
