Katsina State Governor, Malam Dikko Umaru Radda, joined traditional rulers and dignitaries from across Nigeria at the Emir of Daura for the turbaning ceremony of three eminent personalities, conferred with honorary titles by His Royal Highness, the Emir of Daura, Alhaji Dr. Faruq Umar Faruq.
The colourful ceremony, held at the Emir鈥檚 Palace, witnessed the conferment of the traditional titles on Alhaji Aliyu Mohammed from Adamawa State, as Sarkin Motocin Kasar Hausa, Goni Abdulrashid Lawal Hassan from Rano Emirate in Kano State, as Dan Makwayon Kasar Hausa and Dr. James Ibe from Enugu State, as Cika Aikin Kasar Hausa
Governor Radda, in his remarks, commended the Emir for honouring individuals from across Nigeria鈥檚 geopolitical zones, describing the decision as 鈥渁 visionary step that strengthens national unity and promotes peaceful coexistence.鈥
The Governor urged Nigerians to reflect on the importance of community, tolerance and leadership that transcends ethnic and religious boundaries, saying 鈥淚 have closely observed the impactful leadership of His royal highness Emir of Daura. His commitment to the wellbeing of his people and the integrity of this nation is something we must all emulate.鈥
The Governor advised traditional and political leaders across Nigeria to remain close to the people, noting that: 鈥淗is royal highness does not isolate himself behind walls. He goes into communities, listens to the people, and responds with compassion. That is the kind of leadership that transforms societies.鈥
Governor Radda stressed that despite his age and influence, he continues to serve the people with sincerity and sacrifice, commending the Emir鈥檚 humility. 鈥淗is royal highness owns no mansion houses, no personal wealth. Yet, he has built something more valuable, unity and dignity among his people鈥.
He urged citizens to draw inspiration from the Emir鈥檚 life, saying: 鈥淎t 94, His royal highness remains strong, healthy, and committed. This is a sign that selfless service gives peace of mind and long life. May Allah continue to bless him with health, wisdom, and joy.鈥
The Governor also thanked the Emir of Ankpa in Kogi State Alhaji Dr. Abubakar Sadiq Ahmed for his presence, calling it 鈥渁 gesture of friendship that reinforces our common values as Nigerians.鈥
Governor Radda reassured the people of Daura Emirate of his administration鈥檚 resolve to improve the lives of the poor and underserved across the state. 鈥淲e will continue to work with you, stand by you, and invest in what matters healthcare, education, rural development, and peace.鈥
He urged the newly turbaned title holders to serve as ambassadors of the Daura Emirate and champions of unity in respective communities. 鈥淵ou carry the identity of this historic Emirate. Let your words and actions reflect the values of service, honour, and unity鈥.
The Emir of Daura, Alhaji Faruq Umar Faruq, in his address, explained that the selection of the three honourees followed a rigorous background assessment, based on their commitment to humanitarian service and integrity.
He expressed appreciation to Governor Radda for what he described as 鈥渁 leadership style defined by compassion and selflessness,鈥 and prayed for continued peace and prosperity in Katsina State.
Among the dignitaries present at the ceremony were the Speaker of the Katsina State House of Assembly, Hon. Nasir Yahya Daura, The Chief of Staff to the Governor, Alhaji Abdulkadir Mamman Nasir, Members of the Katsina State Executive and Legislative Councils and His Royal Highness, the Ejeh of Ankpa, Alhaj Dr. Abubakar Sadiq Ahmed.
