Hyderabad: In a major crackdown on food adulteration, the Rachakonda Police on Wednesday conducted simultaneous raids across multiple locations, booking 46 cases and arresting 52 individuals involved in the illegal trade.
The special drive was led by Commissioner G. Sudheer Babu, with joint teams comprising the Special Operations Team (SOT), local police, and the Armed Reserve conducting inspections at establishments producing or storing adulterated food items.
鈥淒uring the raids, we observed several violations, including unhygienic food preparation, lack of FSSAI licenses, absence of trade licenses, missing manufacturing or expiry dates, and the use of banned synthetic food colours,鈥 the Commissioner said.
The police also discovered that fake labels of reputed brands were being affixed to adulterated food products to mislead consumers.
Items seized during the raids include:
575 litres of adulterated ghee
7,000 kg of ginger-garlic paste
35 kg of adulterated paneer
Fake immunity-boosting tablets and powders worth Rs 10 lakh
Other adulterated items such as dhania powder, milk, turmeric powder, biscuits, bakery goods, sweets, and ice creams
Police said investigations are ongoing and further action will be taken against repeat offenders and illegal food processing units.
