Public loos could be re-introduced to Dunblane park

Public toilets could be reintroduced in Dunblane at some point in a bid to curb 鈥渋nappropriate” behaviour. Stirling Council officials are expected to look at options which could lead to facilities being created at Laighhills Park. At a recent full meeting of the council, Green councillor Alasdair Tollemache, a ward member for Dunblane and Bridge of Allan, asked environment, transport and net zero convener, Labour councillor Jen Preston, how public toilet concerns in Dunblane could be addressed. He said: 鈥淭he Laighhills park is a greatly valued place in Dunblane for walking, playing at the playpark and use of the skatepark. 鈥淚t is some distance from the nearest toilet in Dunblane. This impacts on both the old and the young. 鈥淭he area is regularly litter picked by volunteers who have come across evidence of inappropriate toilet behaviour. 鈥淚t was a retrograde step to do away with the public toilet. But how can this be addressed?鈥 Cllr Preston said: 鈥淥fficers will support a meeting on the options for toilet provision at the Laighhills Park, and can prepare outline capital and revenue budget estimates to support future decision making for the next financial year. 鈥淭he existing pavilion, which is part of the Dunblane Common Good, has not been used for several years, with the focus for football matches now at Dunblane High School. 鈥淲hilst there has been recent interest in repurposing this property, detailed proposals are however yet to be presented.鈥 Cllr Tollemache responded: 鈥淚t is good news that this is being looked at because this is a very important thing for people who use the park. 鈥淐ould I ask if we could have meeting to ask if we could perhaps discuss provisional arrangements in this year please?鈥 Cllr Preston said she would be happy to meet him to discuss that, adding: 鈥淚t鈥檚 something that鈥檚 been going on for quite a while so it would be good to work towards a conclusion on that.鈥
