DStv subscribers may soon see a reduction in subscription fees, as the Minister of Communication, Digital Technology and Innovation, Samuel Nartey George, has hinted at a potential drop.
According to the minister, his outfit will meet with the senior leadership of MultiChoice Ghana on Friday, July 4, 2025, for a formal dialogue regarding DStv鈥檚 subscription pricing in Ghana.
This engagement aims to address public concerns about affordability, value for money, and fairness in service delivery.
Speaking at a press briefing on Thursday, July 3, 2025, Sam George reiterated the ministry鈥檚 commitment to regulatory accountability, ensuring that digital services in Ghana remain fair, accessible, and responsive to citizens鈥 needs.
鈥淟ast week, I invited the senior leadership of Multi-Choice Ghana to a formal dialogue on DSTV鈥檚 subscription pricing in Ghana. The meeting addressed public concerns about affordability, value for money, and fairness in service delivery. I made it clear the ministry鈥檚 expectation that pricing structures must be responsive to Ghana鈥檚 economic context,鈥 he said.
鈥淚 have a meeting scheduled for tomorrow, Friday, even though it鈥檚 a public holiday, with the Ghana team and their South African counterparts, the management from South Africa, they arrived tonight to agree on a way forward on the issues raised,鈥 the minister indicated.
He further said; 鈥淭he outcomes will be shared with the public in due course. This engagement reflects our commitment to regulatory accountability and our resolve to ensure that digital services in Ghana remain fair, accessible, and responsive to the needs of citizens. I鈥檒l make you one promise, I won鈥檛 leave tomorrow鈥檚 meeting without securing a drop in the pricing of DSTV. That is a solemn promise I make to you.鈥
On April 1, 2025, DStv subscription prices increased by 15% on all packages.
The price adjustments were announced by MultiChoice Ghana.
The Premium package increased from GH垄750 to GH垄890, Compact Plus from GH垄495 to GH垄570, Compact from GH垄330 to GH垄350, and Family from GH垄165 to GH垄190.
