The Madurai Bench of the Madras High Court on Friday asked the State to prevent footboard travel in buses.
A Division Bench of Justices S.M. Subramaniam and A.D. Maria Clete asked the authorities to prevent footboard travel in buses, particularly by students. The court was hearing a petition filed by advocate B. Ramkumar Adityan of Tiruchendur in Thoothukudi district.
The petitioner sought a direction to the State to operate special bus services for school students and ensure safe and comfortable travel during the rush hour. The court observed that it was for the authorities concerned to decide such issues and dismissed the petition.
