A beloved bakery is hosting a brand new market this weekend, celebrating artists and other ‘makers’ in a charming market town not far from Cambridgeshire. The Mabel Makers Market, organised by Mabel Bakery, will take over Downham Market Town Square in June, July and August.
On June 22, there will be over 30 independent companies selling delicious food, baked goods and handmade gifts. The market is run by volunteers who hope to become a regular fixture in the adorable Norfolk town, which is about 30 minutes from Wisbech.
With a focus on quality, originality, and community spirit, each stall is said to have been handpicked to offer something fresh and exciting. Visitors can expect everything from handmade candles and local ceramics to fresh baked goods, preserves, street food and more.
Lucy Peacock, co-founder of Mabel Bakery and organiser of the market, said: 鈥淲e wanted to create a different kind of market鈥攐ne that supports small, local businesses and brings something new to the square.
“This is our first one, and we鈥檙e so excited by the response already. It鈥檚 been built with love by volunteers and local people who really care about making Downham Market more vibrant.鈥
Stalls will be trading on the day between 10am and 3pm, along with live music. The event is free to attend, dog-friendly, and suitable for all ages.
