Polish President Andrzej Duda, whose term ends on August 6, when Karol Nawrocki will take office, has backed the recent US military operation against Iran.
Duda said that the US intervention is a “very determined” and “simply necessary” response to Tehran’s suspected nuclear ambitions.

A close partner of Donald Trump, Duda said the US intervention, which struck three major Iranian nuclear sites, was essential to stopping what he called a growing global threat.
“We believe that it was simply necessary, especially in the case of the Fordow facility,” Duda told reporters, referring to the underground uranium enrichment site hit during the strike.
The June 22 attack, ordered by US President Donald Trump, targeted the Fordow Enrichment Plant, the Natanz Nuclear Facility, and the Isfahan Nuclear Technology Centre.
Tomahawk cruise missiles and bunker-busting bombs were used in what marked the first direct US military engagement in the current Iran vs. Israel conflict, which began on June 13 with Israeli airstrikes.
Hopes for “the sides to sit at the negotiating table”
Duda expressed hope that Washington’s forceful move might break the deadlock and push both sides toward diplomacy.
“We hope this will make the sides sit at the negotiating table,” he said, adding that the escalating situation will likely be an essential topic during the NATO summit in The Hague.
Duda also pointed to past warnings from the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) about Iran’s nuclear activities. In June, 19 of the 35 member states on the IAEA board voted to formally declare Iran in breach of its nuclear non-proliferation commitments, a move strongly rejected by Tehran.
“The US reaction confirmed the concerns voiced earlier about Iran’s plans to obtain nuclear weapons, which could pose a threat not only to the Middle East but also to the world,” Duda said.
